What Will I Learn?
Aislin aims to create a fun, engaging, creative environment where each student has the freedom and support necessary to cultivate their own artistic path. Every student is different, and she will always discuss individual goals and learning preferences prior to teaching. Here are some general learning objectives she likes to follow:
Beginner: Healthy use of air, sound production, basic technique, phrasing/musical expression, aural skills, practice habits
Method Books: Getchell Vol 1, Arban’s Conservatory Method for Trumpet
Intermediate: Strengthening of fundamentals, major and minor scales, range expansion, simple etudes/solos, aural skills, practice habits
Method Books: Getchell Vol 2, Arban’s Conservatory Method for Trumpet, Borgdoni Etudes, Bosquet Etudes
Advanced: Continued fundamental work, solo works from the standard trumpet repertoire, orchestral/band excerpts, aural skills, practice habits
Method Books: Charlier Etudes, Brandt Etudes, Arban’s Conservatory Method for Trumpet
Regardless of level, Aislin maintains a human approach and encourages curiosity over self-criticism. Trumpet playing is about so much more than hitting the high note: it is trusting yourself, learning from mistakes, and finding your voice!
How/What do I Pay?
Aislin’s rate is $25 per half hour*. She accepts Venmo (@Aislin-Carpenter), cash, and checks.
* If you are interested in taking lessons but feel your financial status will prevent you from doing so, a lower rate can be negotiated. Money should never be a barrier to authentic expression!
